Agmar. (James Doohan) Leader of the four other remaining Phylosians. He was able to save Sulu from the poison of the retlaw plant. (The Infinite Vulcan. [TAS]) Four other Phylosians are referred to by Sulu in the dialogue but only three others are shown in the animation.

Alar. He was an ancient religious leader who brought peace to the Skorr. His brain patterns were preserved in the Soul of the Skorr. (The Jihad. [TAS]).

"Albatross." Animated Series episode #19. Written by Dario Finelli. Directed by Hal Sutherland. Stardate 5275.6. First aired in 1974. Returning to a planet where Dr. McCoy headed a mass-inoculation program 19 years earlier, the U.S.S. Enterprise crew find that McCoy is wanted for starting a plague that killed most of the planet's population following that earlier visit. Aleek-Om. (James Doohan) He was the Skorr member of the team researching Vulcan history on the Time Vortex planet. He reported on the death of Spock at the age of seven from the recordings on his tricorder during the researches. (Yesteryear. [TAS]).

Alice Through the Looking Glass. Book written by Lewis Carroll as a sequel to Alice in Wonderland. The Queen of Hearts was a character in this book. (Once Upon a Planet. [TAS]).

Alice. * (Nichelle Nichols) McCoy again imagined this character but this time she was from Alice Through the Looking Glass. (Once Upon a Planet. [TAS]).

Alondra. Outermost planet of the Pallas XIV system. Destroyed by the cosmic being in 2269. (One of Our Planets Is Missing. [TAS]).

Amanda. * (Majel Barrett) In the alternate timeline she separated from Sarek after the death of the young Spock and was killed in a shuttle accident at Lunarport when returning to Earth. Her maiden name was Grayson. (Yesteryear. [TAS]). She was fond of reading Lewis Carroll including the Alice books. (Once Upon a Planet. [TAS]).

"Ambergris Element, The" Animated Series episode #13. Written by Margaret Armen. Directed by Hal Sutherland. Stardate 5499.9. First aired in 1973. While exploring the planet Argo, Kirk and Spock are made into water breathers by an undersea race, and the venom of a deadly sea snake is the only known antidote and is used to return them to their normal selves. GUEST CAST: James Doohan as Clayton, Lieutenant, Domar, Cadmar, Lemus and Aquan male voices; Majel Barrett as Chapel, Christine, Rila and Aquan female voices; David Gerrold as Nephro. ambergris. This substance was found in the blood of Kirk and Spock after their mutation and was similar to the ambergris in Earth's sperm whales. (The Ambergris Element. [TAS]).

Amphion. Star in the reverse universe that came to life at the same time as a star went nova in the normal universe projecting Karla Five's ship into the normal universe. (The Counter-Clock Incident. [TAS]).

amusement park computer. (Voiced by George Takei) Since the death of the Caretaker the control computer believed it had been serving with mindless servitude. It desired a sky machine to seek out brother computers and rule the galaxy. After declaring it intended to 'turn off' the rescue landing party, it then generated various threatening images to capture them. These included pterodactyls, a giant cat and a two-headed fire-breathing dragon. It was capable of detecting thoughts that were emotionally charged thereby preventing Uhura's attempt to disconnect it. The landing party persuaded the computer to remain on the amusement park planet and let the galaxy come to it. (Once Upon a Planet. [TAS]).

amusement park planet. * In 2269 the crew of the Enterprise sought another spell of rest and recreation on this planet. They found that the planet had a solid shell of granite and metal alloy. (Once Upon a Planet. [TAS]) Actually called the 'shore leave planet' in this episode. It of course first featured in Shore Leave. [TOS] At the time this episode was made the Star Trek Encyclopedia did not exist.

Andorians. * In the alternate timeline Commander Thelin was an Andorian. Spock tells him Andorians are not known for their charity, to which Thelin replies that although he comes from a warlike race they have sympathy for family. (Yesteryear. [TAS]). There was an Andorian on the Elysian Ruling Council. (The Time Trap. [TAS]).

April, Captain Robert T. * (James Doohan) He had been present at the San Francisco Navy Yards when the Enterprise's unit component parts were being assembled. At the age of 75 ex-Commodore April was being transported to Babel, with his wife Sarah, to his retirement ceremony. In the reverse universe, still not too young, he assumed command of the Enterprise for its return trip. On return his mandatory retirement was cancelled and his appeal to remain Federation ambassador-at-large was being considered. (The Counter-Clock Incident. [TAS]).

April, Dr. Sarah. (Nichelle Nichols) Was the first CMO aboard a warp capable vessel and designed many of the instruments in sickbay. Married to Robert April. (The Counter-Clock Incident. [TAS]).

Aqua City. Underwater home of the mutated water breathing Aquans. (The Ambergris Element. [TAS]).

Aquans. Previously air breathing humanoids that had mutated to water breathers due the disaster on Argo. Aquan scientists saved Kirk and Spock by inducing their mutation to water breathers. The young Aquans, having assisted Kirk and Spock to obtain the antitoxin venom from the sur-snake, decided to return to the restored surface city. (The Ambergris Element. [TAS]).

aquashuttle. Special Starfleet craft, registry number NCC-1701/7, used to collect seawater and algae specimens from Argo's ocean. It was hoped this survey would help to save another planet from a fate similar to that of Argo. (The Ambergris Element. [TAS]).

Arachna. This burnt out supernova was the destination of the Enterprise on an update survey. (The Terratin Incident. [TAS]).

Arcadian star system. This system was the location of the planet Motherlode. (Mudd's Passion. [TAS]).

Arex, Lieutenant. (James Doohan) In 2269 Arex is the new navigator on the Enterprise replacing Chekov. His race had three arms and three legs, red skin and yellow eyes. (One of Our Planets Is Missing. [TAS]). Under the influence of the love crystals, which had entered via the ship's ventilation system, Arex strummed a double-necked lute. (Mudd's Passion. [TAS]). Using the scanner his eyes were affected by the spiroid epsilon wave and as he shrank he could no longer use the eyepieces. He was part of the bridge crew abducted to the Terratin city. (The Terratin Incident. [TAS]). Reported that the Orion commander was carrying dilithium when Kirk was on the asteroid. (The Pirates of Orion. [TAS]). Although already seen in Beyond the Farthest Star. [TAS], One of Our Planets Is Missing. [TAS] was the first broadcast episode with dialogue, his first words being 'Its immense!' referring to the cosmic being.

Argo. Once a land planet, but now almost completely covered by water due to violent seismic disturbances. The planet was stabilised by phaser fire from the Enterprise restoring some of the landmasses. (The Ambergris Element. [TAS]).

Ariel, U.S.S. This starship, registry number unknown, carried a six-man science crew and was found in orbit of Lactra VII. When contact was lost with the original landing party of three, the remaining three including Lt. Commander Markel beamed down against normal Starfleet regulations. They found the first three had perished. (The Eye of the Beholder. [TAS]). Not the Renaissance class starship, registry number NCC-45167, The Icarus Factor. [TNG].

Arret. Homeworld of Karla Five in the reverse universe. It was in the same position as Earth in the normal universe. (The Counter-Clock Incident. [TAS]).

Asmodeus. (Ed Bishop) The Megan prosecutor was known by this name in his incarnation on Earth in 1691. He declared he was specialist in the ethics of magic and officiated at the recreation of the Salem, Massachusetts witch trial for Lucien and the crew of the Enterprise. He fought a 'magic' duel with Kirk. (The Magicks of Megas-Tu. [TAS]).

asteroid.* The members selected for the mission to recover the Soul of the Skorr assembled on a Vedala asteroid. (The Jihad. [TAS]). The asteroids in the belt where the Orion ship seeks refuge proved to be highly explosive when they collided. One asteroid was selected for the handing over of the strobolin. (The Pirates of Orion. [TAS]). The Enterprise was about to survey the last Type-4 asteroid on its current mission, 72 hours ahead of schedule, when it encountered the Romulan battle cruisers who were waiting behind it. (The Practical Joker. [TAS]).

aurora. One occurred near Dramia II and was found to be the source of Dramian auroral plague. (Albatross. [TAS]).

autodestruct. * When Spock calculated that photon torpedoes would be insufficient to destroy the cosmic being's brain, Kirk ordered Scott to prepare the ship for autodestruct instead. (One of Our Planets Is Missing. [TAS]).

auxiliary control. * Kirk tells the malignant alien that Scott will have to rig a manual auxiliary control after Kirk had tricked it into burning out the main warp drive controls. This was done to the left of the main bridge console. Beyond the Farthest Star. [TAS]).

Aztecs. Mexican civilization that flourished from AD 1350 to 1520. It had a god similar to Kulkukan. (How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth. [TAS]).
